Curves in Pools

Curved pools have been around since the famous kidney-shaped pools of the 70’s but nowadays they’re must more refined and bespoke. They’re also make a great use of space by allowing for seating nooks and feature plantings. A strong architectural statement that makes a stunning addition.

Most of our pool designs have an element of curve incorporated which echoes through the design of the garden and hardscaping elements.

Included in this curved pool trend is round pools, that start from a very compact size of just 2.5m in diameter for a plunge pool up to any size for a custom build. There is no doubt that round pools are an eye catching and unique feature for backyards large and small.

Resort Style Pools

Leading the way in resort-style swimming pool designs, current trends include the addition of a range of luxurious features. Swim-up pool bars provide the ultimate in staycation vibe, providing a social hub while enjoying the cool water of the pool.

Sun shelf loungers, or in-pool lounger chairs allows bathers to recline comfortably on an oversized ledge of the pool while soaking up the sun.

The inclusion of oversized raised spas introduces a new level of relaxation, becoming a focal point for the pool area.

Additionally, water features are making a splash in contemporary pool design. We love including custom water spouts into our designs to add a dynamic and sensory dimension.

Infinity Pools

Infinity pools, originally famed for edging a pool with clear views of the horizon are considered the height of luxury but were mostly just seen on the rooftops of luxury hotels and in the top resorts across the world.

They've since become a luxury trend in more and more Australian backyards with the water cascading over the edge of the pool adding a soothing and inviting sound.

Whilst they do add to the build cost, the result is always spectacular.

Pool Colours

Hues of the classic blue colour of swimming pools will always be in fashion but one of the style trends of contemporary pools is warmer white or creamy beige swimming pool tiles or a light brushed limestone paver for their ability to create a clean modern aesthetic that enhances the overall sense of luxury and sophistication. We’re also loving deeper coloured mosaics that blend an earthy mix of subdued green and neutral tiles.

Here’s a little breakdown of pool tile colours and what you can expect to achieve:

- If you're looking for something a little different but nothing too dramatic, deep hues such as dark blue or green for a lagoon look can be eye catching.

- A light grey tile will help you achieve a true blue and bold water colour.

- For translucent or crystalline blue water choose a pale blue, white or beige tile or stone.

- Enhance a natural design with green, tan, or brown tiles which will create soft green tones in the water.

- Select a dark blue tile for a deeper blue water effect.

- For a unique and stunning result, consider black. A black interior creates a mirror effect, allowing the water to reflect the sky and surroundings.
